OS and IDE for Odoo devlopment

If have decided to learn Odoo from the scratch and have basic knowledge of Python, XML, OOP and PostgreSQL, then you need to setup the OS and IDE on your machine. this post will help you to choose OS and IDE for odoo Devlopment.


Choosing Operating system:

I personally prefer to use any Linux distribution. I have worked on many os but I found Ubuntu is the best linux distribution over all. for odoo development windows is not preferred.
if you do not have Ubuntu you can install it on VMware. or install it along side.

Choosing IDE:

I have worked with netbeans, eclipse(indigo, kepler, juno, europa, mars), sublime, MonoDevelop, pycharm.

Eclipse:
I like to work with eclipse with all versions because it gives very nice keyboard shortcuts and code templates(will release odoo eclipse code templates soon), code templates saves my most of time, I can create my own code template to save my coding time. Eclipse saves my development time it is the beauty of eclipse, I can choose my own shortcuts.

Sublime:
Sublime is a very light IDE. if your machine is having low configuration I will recommended Sublime. Sublime Text isn't much of a IDE but more of a editor. It's very good and fast for editing scripts.
